Our wonderful instrumentalists have entertained us all at assembly this afternoon. We have heard some beautiful playing of recorders, flutes, clarinets, ukuleles and guitars...accompanied by some very lovely singing too. The children have been learning to play in their weekly lessons with Mr Linsley and Mr Evans and we have all been so impressed with their talents! Well done children, we are very proud of you!

Today we have welcomed Tasha from the Lake District National Park Authority who came to Skelton School to teach us all about water. We have learnt all about how much water we use in our day to day lives and why it is so important to save water. We have had a great day and will make sure that we all take actions that will help to reduce our water usage!

We love our new History timetable that has just been installed in our playground. We can get a real sense of the chronology of ancient civilisations and events through to the current time. It also includes some events in the history of Skelton too!

Despite the rainy weather doing its best to derail our day, with a lot of help to get our football pitch playable, we ploughed on with our annual Skelton Sevens inter-school football and netball tournament. The eventual winners were Skelton School (netball) and Plumpton School (football). An amazing day was had by all - thank you so much to all the wonderful children that took part and all the helpers who made it happen 😊🏅⚽️🏀🏆

We love our Forest School sessions with Branch Out Education. This term, our Year 3/4 sessions have had a Stone Age theme whilst our Year 5/6 sessions have focused on Survival. Our Year 3/4 children searched for animal tracks in the snow, gathered fruit and berries for a snack, made shelters and dens and tested out spears on a snowman! 🐇🔥⛄ We enjoyed glorious weather for our Year 5 /6 sessions during which we explored methods of fire-lighting, campfire cooking, different fire lays for different purposes and some energetic survival games. We also worked on survival skills by making stretchers for emergency situations, campfire cooking and working together to build some amazing shelters to protect us from the weather!🌳🔥

We are so proud of our wonderful gymnasts who took part in the Key Steps competition today. They have been practising hard and all of their hard work has paid off, with the Key Step 1 team finishing second and the Key Step 3 team finishing third in their categories. Well done girls, you are all superstars!!!

We are Revolting Children and we have had an amazing time performing for you all at U Dance Cumbria tonight at the Sands Centre. We hope you had as fab a night as we have ❤️

We are really loving using our new balance bikes in our PE lessons. Today we have been learning to use our brakes safely and develop our skills while having lots of fun doing so!

What an amazing day we had at the Life Centre in Newcastle. We learnt about electricity circuits, our planet, space and SO much more!!

What a fascinating morning we have had at Carlisle Archive Centre investigating the life and works of Alfred Wainwright. It was so interesting to analyse the old documents and enhance our research skills looking at all of the primary sources of evidence. We also enjoyed the tour of the Archive Centre afterwards too.

Happy World Book Day everyone!!

We've really enjoyed our first Stone Age themed session at with Branch Out Education today. We played stalking games, created natural art, made paints, used stone tools, cooked ash bread on the campfire, had a go at fire-lighting and enjoyed working as a tribe together 🔥🪵🌳
