We are so super proud of all of our netballers who took part in the Penrith area netball tournament this morning. Both of our teams reached the semi-final and our blue team have now progressed to the next round which will be the Eden finals in March. Well done everyone! To make our morning even more special, we were delighted to be awared with our 'School Games Gold Award' by Becky from the Eden Valley Sports Partnership in recognition to our commitment to fitness, sport and health. A great morning all round!!

Today we have been lucky enough to have Mrs Quinn come into class to talk to us about the Criminal Justice System. Mrs Quinn has expert knowledge of this subject, as she sits as a Magistrate at Carlisle and Workington Magistrates Courts. We learned so many interesting facts about the modern day Criminal Justice System. The talk was made even more exciting, as Mrs Quinn made a special effort to incorporate our History topic into the presentation. As part of History, we are studying the Tudors, so Karen compared our system to the way in which crimes were dealt with during this period of history. We quickly realised that we are definitely lucky to be alive in the 21st Century, rather than the Tudor period! We then had a chance to participate in a quiz to test our knowledge and then we had the opportunity to listen to a real life case and take on the role of being a Magistrate. In table groups, we had to decide whether a crime had been committed and, if so, what the punishment would be. We want to thank Mrs Quinn for a really exciting morning!

Our Growing Garden has become a little bit overgrown during the summer holidays, so today, the Reception and Key Stage 1 children got stuck in there with their trowels to tidy it up. They also picked up lots of leaves which had fallen and painted some beautiful pictures, using the leaves to print with.

Our new school year got off to a flying start - the year 5/6 children set off on their residential visit on day one of the new term and had a fantastic three days. They took part in a wide variety of activities including climbing, caving, canoeing, archery, the giant swing, the zip wire, crate building, team challenges and the dreaded piranha pool! Fortunately the weather stayed fine and a wonderful time was had by all!!
