As part of our Tudor topic, Year 5/6 have had a great day making bread fit for Queen Elizabeth I! We kneaded, proved and baked three delicious loaves of bread and wrote our own recipes too.
We have had an amazing day at the Playdale Playgrounds factory in Haverthwaite. Playdale are building our new climbing frame next month and invited us along to see how it was designed and made. As our topic this term is 'Materials', it was also a perfect opportunity to learn about and handle wood, rubber, rope, metal and CGL. Thank you so much to Hannah, Mick and all the Playdale team for having us!
Today is Children in Need Day and once again, we are supporting this fantastic charity. In class, we have been learning about people that the charity supports and how there are many children who are less fortunate than us. We have all come to school in our pyjamas and had a cake sale at morning break. We have also been selling Pudsey and Blush ears, wristbands and pin badges for the last three weeks and, altogether, we have raised over £300.
We love our current topic all about Transport. today we have been to Carlisle to see how many different types of transport we could spot - we went on the train and came back on a bus and, in between, saw a fire engine and a fork lift truck!
In Science this afternoon, Year 5/6 have been using their knowledge of how light travels and reflection to make periscopes!
Next week we will be starting our woodwork project in the Year 1/2 class. Today, we invited Mr Dobinson in to school to teach us how to stay safe and use our tools to make our own creations!!
We are having a great afternoon at the Eden Valley Sports Partnership Basic Moves Festival at Penrith Leisure Centre. So far we have competed in lots of running, throwing and jumping activities and we still have lots to do. It is brilliant fun!!!
We are really enjoying our topic all about 'Materials'. This afternoon, we have been making musical instruments out of recycled materials - we have still to finish them off yet but they are looking good so far!! 😊
We had a great time at After School Club last night creating some amazing bonfire paintings 🎇
