We have attended various sporting events during this half term - this week our Year 3 and 4 children took part in the Tri Golf Festival at Penrith Leisure Centre and our Year 5 and 6 children took part in the Sportshall Athletics event at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School. The athletics squad performed brilliantly well and have qualified to represent Eden at the County Athletics final in Penrith in March. Well done to all who took part!
We love Children in Need day here at Skelton School. Today we are all in our pyjamas and some of us have Pudsey ears too. We have had a cake sale and have raised £170 for this fantastic cause. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and to all the children and parents who have baked the delicious cakes!
The Nursery and Reception children are learning all about transport this term. Yesterday, we went on a train from Penrith to Carlisle and had time to explore the station and learn all about how things work there. We then got on a bus and had a look at Carlisle Bus Station before carrying on to Carlisle East Fire Station where we got to look at a fire engine. Today, Mr Bell brought his big shiny motorbike to school so we could all have a look at that too.
Every year, the lovely ladies at the Skelton Sewing Group knit hats, scarves and gloves which are then collected by our school councillors to distribute to those less fortunate than ourselves. This year, we are joining with QEGS in Penrith in donating these items to the local homeless shelter.
We had a wonderful time at the Basic Moves Festival - we’ve been throwing, catching, jumping and racing all afternoon - we all tried our best and earned lots of 'well done' stickers!
