Gallery - January 2019

Just before Christmas, all of the children from Years 1 to 6 went to the Theatre by the Lake to see 'Beauty and the Beast'. After Christmas, we were visited by Dave from the Theatre who delivered a workshop in school to the Year 3 and 4 children. He explained how productions are put on at the theatre and taught them a few acting skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon with Dave and are now even more excited for their next visit to the theatre!

The Year 5/6 children visited Tullie House Museum in Carlisle as part of their studies on World War II. They took part in a workshop, learnt about life as an evacuee and built their own Anderson shelters.

At Skelton School, we love gardening - we have been very excited to welcome Hayley and Bob back to help us with this. We have been having some lovely dry weather this January so we have been able to do lots of important jobs in our Growing Garden. These inlcude weeding, clearing up the leaves, preparing the raised beds and raking the top soil in the new potato bed. We can't wait to plant our seeds and watch all of our plants grow!

The Spring term topic in the Year 5/6 class is 'Europe'. On our first day back after the Christmas holidays, we had a great afternon researching information about Europe and sharing our knowledge with each other. It turned out that we actually knew quite a few interesting facts and we can't wait to learn more about the subject over the next few weeks. Here are some photographs of us researching and sharing our facts and ideas.
